SEO Skyrocket was an Etsy shop that I had started, selling digital products and consulting services to help Etsy shop owners with their marketing.
The GOal
Grow # of followers and learn about target audience's needs
I needed to understand my target customer better so that I could create services more adapted to their needs in order to deliver more value and charge more. I also wanted to have a following that I could use to generate more leads.
Market Research Findings
Few competitors on TikTok
There were very few competitors on TikTok with a very large target audience presence.
Competition had poor quality videos
Competitors did no video editing and used no graphics or animations.
Target audience's problem: confusion
The target audience had very little business experience and understanding.
The Strategy: What I Did
Strong visual branding
With all the competition having very poorly made videos, I easily distinguished myself as a credible source with quality video production and branding.
Simplified animated graphics
By explaining complicated concepts with simplified animated graphics, I solved the inexperienced target audience's main problem: confusion.
Followed TikTok trends in industry
Using TikTok's search engine, I was able to see what subjects were most engaged with in the industry and used this to generate all my content ideas.
Cohesive profile theme
I created a professional-looking checkerboard theme with
easy-to-read thumbnails that converted profile visitors into followers.
Systemization of repeated tasks
I created systems and templates for any kind of repeated task (thumbnail design, script writing, graphics, etc.).
Prioritized "post saving" as CTA
After delivering value in each video, I encouraged viewers to save the post for later - as easy a giving a like, but worth much more to the algorithm.
